Playing God much, Lord Yondaime*?
Such was the wry thought going through the mind of one Kakashi Hatake, a lean scarecrow of a man with a silvery shock of hair and a mask that left the lower half of his face to the imaginations of most, as he sauntered through the streets of Mount Oinari, his (signed!) copy of Icha Icha’s latest continuation in hand. It was one of his many uncanny traits that fascinated villagers from all walks of life; he could stick his nose in a hentai saga while meandering in his easy manner, unheeding of anyone or anything, and

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was a goddess. That was the indisputable truth. Had she not eaten the fruit of the God Tree for which she and her clan had waited for millennia? Had she not ascended to godhood and used her newfound power to quell the wars and silence any dissent?
How, then, could her raiment not fit her? Hagoromo, who had been woven of the holy threads of herself and Harafu*, the Ten-Headed and Ten–Tailed Beast of Mount Hōrai’s† God Tree, was to be like his namesake and be her legacy, draping over the world and snuffing out the evils of these pathe

Fathomless blue eyes bore into the horizon, drinking in the sea and the sky that matched them. Their owner, a juvenile fox of gold with nine tails, padded swiftly on the surface of the water, at peace like never before.
He had always felt at home in the wind and waves of his surname, more at home than he’d ever felt among the kin sharing that same surname. All they ever did was spout empty praise to his face whil

Reimagining the Aburame
Etymology: 油女 “Fat Greenling” OR “Salamander”
History
The Aburame are an offshoot of the Atera clan who are known for housing and summoning beetles for various purposes. Shortly after splitting from the Atera, the Aburame were among the first clans to settle within Mount Oinari.
Physical Characteristics
The most notable characteristic is their eyes, the irides of which resemble compound eyes. This is speculated to be the reason Aburame clanspeople often wear sunglasses or other shaded eyewear, even in the dark.
Naming
Those born in the main family are given names prefixed with “Shi-” [

The Abe
Etymology: 安倍 “Twice Peaceful”
History
When the Chinoike split up due to their irreconcilable beliefs surrounding Jashin, those who called themselves the Abe were those who believed that Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was the true Jashin, due to the power she gained from eating of the God Tree and how she tamed its Beast, making him her Consort.
Similar to the Hōzuki, the Abe associated the Moon with the Rabbit Goddess. Unlike the Hōzuki, however, they did not glorify or edify Kaguya’s Demonic side, finding it as horrifying as most others within the Land of Hōrai. Also of note is that unlike most branc

Hiruzen Sarutobi as the Fourth
In comparison to other things I’ve altered for my pilotverse, this will be minor, but since it goes against a “natural order”, I might as well address this so as not to throw off readers.
As it says on the tin, Hiruzen Sarutobi will have been the fourth leader of his respective village rather than the third as he was in the series. My reasoning for this will be quite simplistic, I’ll admit, but it was something that kept nagging me: on the Chief’s forehead, there are four fireball-like markings. I don’t know how or why, but it made me think “what if this was Mount Oinari’s way of enumerating th

Mount Jofuku
Etymology: 徐福 “Gradual Good Fortune”; previously known as Kō ([香] “Fragrance”)
Inhabitants: Yashudara and Asura Ōtsutsuki, the early Senju clan (as Kō); the Tsukishita clan (as Jofuku)
History
Before the Great Split, and a stone’s throw away from the monolithic Mount Hōrai, there was a humble mountain that had its own claim to fame: Mount Kō, which got its name from the many fragrant herbs growing there. From these herbs, many perfumes, potpourris, and incenses were made, which brought revenue to the otherwise insignificant mountain.

Mount Haguro
Etymology: 羽黒 “Black Feather”
Inhabitants: the Hyūga and Uchiha clans
History
As Mount Oinari’s settlement expanded from the Inaho district, the Hyūga and Uchiha clans, who were once the Hagoromo clan and had split up and maintained strained relations ever since, settled at the base of one of the outermost mountains of the main village. The mountain is divided into halves, with each clan inhabiting each half, along with their respective flora.
On the eastern half of the mountain base dwells the Hyūga clan, “so that the Sun can rise upon a sunny place”. Within this division grows t

Ballad of Kikyou Pass
Are you going to Kikyō Pass? Chrysanthemum, plum, orchid, and bamboo* Remember me to that one special lass ‘fore I fade away like the dew. Tell her to make me a celestial robe, Chrysanthemum, plum, orchid, and bamboo Without no silk or plumes of the globe, Or I’ll fade away like the dew. Tell her to find me the Mount of Hōrai, Chrysanthemum, plum, orchid, and bamboo Where jeweled branches meet the sky, Or I’ll fade away like the dew. Tell her to reap it with the sickle lunar, Chrysanthemum, plum, orchid, and bamboo And offer it to the eternal honeymooner, Or I’ll fade away like the dew. Are you going to Kikyō Pass? Chrysanthemum, plum, orchid, and bamboo Remember me to that one special lass ‘fore I fade away like the dew.

The Uchiha's Counterparts
Man, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, but since it keeps coming up in conversations about my pilotverse, I feel I might as well say my piece on this subject so I can have something to link to.
As we know, in the Naruto canon, the Uchiha rivaled the Senju. Both clans were the descendants of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki via his sons: the Uchiha from Indra and the Senju from Asura, with the former inheriting the Sage’s “eyes” and the latter inheriting the Sage’s “body”.
With the right handling, this could have been an epic backstory. But one question became a most persistent beggar:

Minato Namikaze as the Pilot's Nine-Tails
Considering what Minato Namikaze is known for in the canon, my decision to mesh him with the pilot!village-destroying fox in my fics is bound to raise a brow or two. So I'm gonna give you the skinny here and now so I don't have to repeat myself n number of times.
First, let's look at Naruto Uzumaki. Both his depictions in the pilot chapter and Part I of the canon are nearly identical, the only difference being his choice of footwear.

Since Naruto's a fox demon in the pilot, it's safe to say that what we see is his default human form, especially as it's his only known transformation that doesn't
